Environment Minister announces funding for TOSSI planting
Published on 01-08-2012Email To Friend    Print Version

The Environment Minister, Amy Adams, has announced that TOSSI is to receive funding from the Community Environment Fund for our planting program. The Fund will cover our nursery and planting expenses for the next three years and allow TOSSI to continue to grow all the plants that are used in revegetation projects at Tawharanui. Our program of habitat restoration at the Open Sanctuary will restore coastal forest and swamp forest wetland vegetation and establish 6.5 hectares of coastal pohutukawa and coastal broadleaf and swamp forest to increase the habitat for re-introduced species and strengthen the links between existing native forest and wetland areas. We are grateful to the Ministry for its support and with the fantastic turnout to this year's planting days our revegetation program will surely continue to go from strength to strength.
