Saddleback have been re-introduced to Tawharanui. Thirty birds arrived - by helicopter - from Lady Alice Island on 10th March.
Two more consignments of thirty birds are expected from Red Mercury Island and Mokoia Island (Lake Rotorua) in the next month. The translocation will allow Dr Kevin Parker to study interactions between saddleback populations, each with different song patterns. |
